Whether to implement Divorce bill in the Philippines
Nowadays, it is common to see broken families in our society. Married life is truly a life full of responsibilities and temptations but divorce bill must not be implemented here in the Philippines because it is not the solution to acquire a permanent union.
Some people might claim that divorce bill must be implemented in the Philippines because it helps lessen violent acts against women and children. However, it is not the answer to the growing violence towards women and children because if the bill will be passed, then we have the choice and the chance to change partners and abused these rights because of our self centered minds and would make the cruelty even worse.
Some people would argue that divorce bill will help lessen the attempt of inducing their partners into immoral activities because they would think that if they have found their perfect partner, it will lessen the attempt of doing immoral acts. But unfortunately, perfect partners doesn't exist at all. Moreover, the bill will just make the problem worst because the fact that we can change partners because of our sexual desires is just a proof of immorality.
It is also argued that divorce bill will help spouses to find their perfect match because they could change their partner anytime they want until they found their perfect match. But as said earlier perfect match doesn't exist. It's just a matter of accepting your partner's weaknesses and strengths wholeheartedly to achieve a successful married life. Furthermore, There is a given time to decide whether you will settle with your partner with the rest of your life. Finally, the vow that you said during the wedding must not be broken. That's why there is a saying that "Till death do us part."
In the end, divorce bill cannot absolutely protect women and children from violence and harassment. Moreover, we Filipinos are conservatives that's why we value family more than anybody else. Indeed, divorce bill must not be implemented in the Philippines
